Barbara is a White Burgee LOOPER and is in the process of starting her first trip around the Great Loop. She’s asked us to help her prepare for her first Gulfstream Crossing to the Bahamas aboard her 38 foot Bayliner.
It’s a BIG step from a 26 foot boat to a 47 foot cruiser. Not only the difference from gas to diesel but also air conditioners, black and grey water systems, inverters, generators, fly bridge and the new importance of staying in deepwater. Whew! If you ran aground in the 27 footer it was easy to get out and push her of the mud flat. Not so with 30,000 pounds of fiberglass and diesel engines.
Yes! Two Golden Star trawlers in the same season. Another Maine couple was surfing the web- like you are now! and noticed that we just worked with a Maine couple on their 42 foot Golden Star Motor Yacht. So, they contacted us to work with them too! The power of the internet…WOW!
We are meeting more converts every year. RV travelers see the light and transition over to the cruising lifestyle. After visiting every state (except Hawaii, NJ & RI) by RV this couple want to see America from the water’s edge just like our forefathers who settled our country.
What do you do after the kids leave home and the sport boat on the trailer isn’t big enough to meet your new cruising desires. Buy a larger boat of course! But what should you buy? You search the net, read magazines like Passagemaker and other cruising publications, attend Trawler Fest and AGLCA (Great Loop)Rendezvous and form an IDEA of what you want and need.
One day after coming home from Trawler Fest Fort Lauderdale and poof! We are welcoming a Quebec couple aboard Sandy Hook for trawler training. This adventurous couple drove their fifth wheel down from the artic northern winter to enjoy our Florida sunshine and a few days aboard, living the dream with us.
