John and his wife Vicky have been chatting with us for a few years about our style of trawler. After seeing hundreds of boats on line and at boat shows it was time for them to try out the trawler lifestyle. Coming aboard for trawler training with us did just the trick.
Spending two nights aboard in our spacious master suite confirmed that it was everything they expected and more. The full sized bath tub was a bonus! The spacious aft deck served as a dining room for all our meals aboard as well as a comfortably sized navigation table for trip planning. Then hopping up to the fly bridge allowed immediate comparison on the GPS chart plotter. Lots to learn in a short time aboard!
Two days flew by as we reviewed the boat from top to bottom. We explored all below deck systems in our stand up engine room, another confirming opportunity that this is the right style of trawler for Living The Dream.
Our second day allowed us to traverse the ICW and a few side channels along the Treasure Coast. A Security call on the VHF warned us of two incoming work boats, one from TowBoatUS and the other a Navy vessel. We gave them plenty of manuevering room as we practiced holding our position just inside the entrance to the Fort Pierce Inlet.
Significantly windy conditions created a challenge for the helmsman but John was up to it. Look below and you can see some snapshots of this plan in action….first, confirm that the dream is possible, then set out to find your boat and before you know it you are Living The Dream!
